Just uh needed to get this out of my system.
Now that the complainers are less outnumbered than we used to be, I thought I’d make my own post about how Korra is just turning out to be a disappointing show. Episode 9 aired most recently. Let me just list the first 9 episodes of Avatar: the Last Airbender for comparison:
The Boy in the Iceberg. The Avatar Returns. The Southern Air Temple. The Warriors of Kyoshi. The King of Omashu. Imprisoned. Winter Solstice (Part 1: The Spirit World, & Part 2: Avatar Roku). The Waterbending Scroll.
Think back to those episodes. Every last one of them was worth watching in its own right. They were full of diverse, engaging plots that gave the main story room to grow while (and this is important) always reinforcing the heroes’ central goal, which was clear and consistent from the beginning. They also introduced colorful but believable characters who actually mattered - both for their own sake, and for showing us new sides of the main protagonists.
The Legend of Korra does none of those things. Objectives are scattered and confusingly brief, and no one seems able to have relationships with more than 2 people at a time.
i /know/ this show isn’t over yet and it still has the end of this season and next to get better but
i really agree with a lot of this
it just seems a little hollow and confusing right now
So, we saw the first images from the finale today! You can find the trailer here.
Theories about “Turning the Tides”, “Skeletons in the Closet”, “Endgame”, bloodbending, Amon, and the Avatar Spirit itself under the cut.

Day 3: Childhood
“Why is he hugging me? Maybe he wants to spar…”
It would be the cutest thing if Korra, Bolin, and Mako actually met before as children. They can’t be any older than six here however. Korra falls down and scrapes her knee while her and Bolin are playing. Bolin, being so sweet and naive, thinks it’s his fault somehow. They’d be so precious.
